A TikTok post has gone viral after a woman shared her bizarre interaction with a delivery driver.

Tamera, who goes by @Tameraaw on TikTok, said a 'nasty note' was left in her food order after the DoorDash driver saw she didn’t tip through the app.

Although tipping is not mandatory, a fee of 20% to 25% on top of the bill is considered standard when buying food in the US.

And this isn't just when you're in a restaurant - it generally applies to online takeout orders as well. Apps like DoorDash give you the option to tip delivery drivers - and the worker was stunned when she saw she wasn't tipped online.

Captured in footage from the TikTok user's doorbell camera, the DoorDash worker can be seen ringing the bell and waiting on the front step, when the woman soon appears with cash in her hand to pick up her takeout.

Tamera tries to tip the driver for her food, but surprisingly she says: “Ignore it, you keep that”.

Seemingly confused, Tamera asks why, and the driver replies: “Because I didn’t see a tip on the app and I put a little card in there, so please keep that, I’m sorry.”

The TikToker goes on to explain that she had cash, but the driver refuses to take it and scurries off.

People jumped to the comments of the video, with one saying: “I would be too scared to eat my food after that,” while another ominously added: “Don’t drink the drink.”

Everyone was desperate to see what the driver wrote, commenting: “Omg what’s the note!” and “Now we need to see what the note said.”

The DoorDash driver left a less than complimentary note.

In a follow-up video, Tamera shared a photo of the savage handwritten message with her followers.

It read: “Lucky for you, I didn’t bother the food but next time consider tipping your driver.”

People were left stunned at the message, with one writing in the comments: “Omg that’s worse than I expected it to be. Like who would put that in writing and then in YOUR bag.”

Another chimed in: “That’s why I leave a message on DoorDash that says I’ll tip in person."

If you did want to add a tip after checkout, it is possible to do so on DoorDash. You can add a tip up to 30 days after an order is complete via the orders tab in the app - after that period you can contact support for help.

DoorDash have said it is looking into the incident.
