A man who refused to accept $200,000 to abandon his house is now surrounded by a huge highway.
The shocking footage of the home has been doing the rounds on social media after a grandfather refused to sell his property when the highway was being built.
And now Huang Ping has admitted that he does have some regrets about not accepting the compensation he was offered from the government.

Located in Jinxi, which is the south west area of Shanghai in China, Ping was asked to move out of his home so that the new road could be built over it.
However, when the man refused to leave, the government was left with no choice but to build around the two-storey house.
Now, Ping lives in the house with his 11-year-old grandson and has admitted that the pair spend a lot of time in the town center to avoid noise from the construction.
He said: “If I could turn back time, I would agree to the demolition conditions they offered. Now it feels like I lost a big bet.”
He went on to share: “I regret it a bit.”

It’s thought that the homeowner was holding out in hopes that the government would make a better offer to him after he was originally offered CNY 1.6 million (around $222,000).
The secretary of the Jinxi County Party Committee had previously revealed that the homeowner had refused to leave his house because he wasn’t happy with the offer given to him.
Instead, after a long period of failed negotiations, the government decided to go ahead with its plans regardless and would build the road around Ping’s home.

Now, as footage of the construction work has since gone viral, many people have taken to social media themselves to share their own reactions to the news.
On YouTube, one user wrote: “The dust of construction it’s nothing compared to the traffic smoke , fumes and noise. He definitely lost.”
Another said: “He probably didn't think they were going to build it like that. A lot of times, they buy and tear down far more than they needed.”
A third person commented: “Yup. Look, man… when the government wants something and they give you an offer. That’s not really the offer. That’s the price, and if you don’t bite…”

And a fourth added: “This home is going to be worth millions. He can advertise on his property.”
