People in utter disbelief after spotting robot running across road in LA

The humanoid styled a pair of Nike trainers

A robot has been caught running across a road in downtown LA.

Artificial intelligence continues to advance at an incredibly fast rate, and frankly, a lot of the recent discoveries have been quite unsettling.

One study revealed the lengths AI systems would go to in order to avoid shutdown.

At the same time, cybersecurity experts have identified concerning 'blindspots' in OpenAI's ChatGPT that could impact users' mental health.

With all these warnings about AI becoming potentially dangerous, it's refreshing when the robot revolution delivers something that's more entertaining than threatening.

A TikTok has gone viral, showing what might be a glimpse into our AI-filled future, where we walk alongside robots.

The footage captures a humanoid robot casually strolling through West Hollywood. But this isn't your typical metallic, sterile-looking android.

This robot styled a sun hat, rainbow bands on its arms and hips, and a pair of Nike trainers and is seen crossing the road before it ends up sprinting off camera.

"UMM THERES ROBOTS IN LA NOW??!!" the overlaying text on the TikTok read.

"WHY IS IT RUNNING?!!!!" TikTok Karalyn Mae captioned in her video.

The responses have been unsurprisingly mixed, ranging from excitement to concern about the robot's hidden message.

"That’s kinda cool actually," commented one TikTok user, while another noted: "I love how they glamorized it".

Others made more playful jokes, writing: "It’s a Tesla robot doing errands".

While the robot's origins weren't clear from the viral TikTok, more videos surfacing on the robot on social media have uncovered more.

One video on Instagram shows the robot 'flirting with boys' and shaking their hands, as posted by WeHo_Times.

At one point, the robot turns toward the camera operator, and viewers can see a label on its chest reading "RIZZBOT" above a sticker that declares "Not Elon's B****."

The name appears to be a play on Gen-Z slang, where 'rizz' is short for charisma.

One user commented on the reel: "Are we supposed to be excited about this?"

According to USA Today, the robot goes by the name of Jake the Rizzbot, a Unitree G1 Humanoid agent AI avatar.

The consumer-grade robot starts at around $16,000 and is equipped with 23 to 43 joint motors that allow it to move its limbs, torso and head, as well as a depth camera and spatial sensors that help it navigate its environment.

The Unitree G1 operates on a battery that provides approximately two hours of runtime, according to the company's website, which may explain Jake's apparent urgency on the streets.
