Mike Myers returns as Elon Musk on SNL in brutal impersonation of Tesla billionaire

It was anything but subtle

Mike Myers has returned to SNL with his infamous impersonation of Tesla billionaire Elon Musk as he 'accepted' an award from 'Donald Trump' in a new skit.

Saturday Night Live's January 24th episode embraced the opportunity of Elon Musk's recent reconciliation with President Donald Trump through its 'Trump Awards Cold Open.'

During the cold open, comedian Mike Myers showed up as the Tesla and SpaceX founder after being announced by the US President (portrayed by James Austin Johnson).

The sketch imagined a self-congratulatory awards show called 'The Trumps,' where the entire premise revolved around various presenters stepping up to hand out trophies to himself.

"After that lady whose name I already forget gave me her Nobel Prize, I thought, 'I need more awards!' And after what all my little freaks and psychos in ICE have been doing, I need more distractions," Trump (Johnson) said. "Look, everything's gold and shiny!"

The parade of presenters included Trump administration figures like J.D. Vance (Jeremy Culhane), Stephen Miller (Andrew Dismukes), and Argentina's president Javier Milei (Marcello Hernandez).

But it was Myers’ Musk who stole the spotlight after accepting a 'Lifetime Achievement' award, set to a sombre version of America's Funniest Home Videos theme song.

"I'm so emotionless to be here and if anyone knows humor, it's me. No tariffs on humour. Legalise comedy!" he said in his speech. "Unfortunately, it wasn't all laughs this year. There are a few things we had to say goodbye to because we destroyed them. So here to perform a mournful rendition of the America's Funniest Home Videos theme, please welcome Carrie Underwood and the construction worker for The Village People."

Mocking the Trump admin and MAGA culture, Myers went on: "Unfortunately, it wasn't all laughs this year, there were a few things we had to say goodbye to because we destroyed them."

He then brought out a fake Carrie Underwood and a fake member of The Village People, sending the crowd into fits of laughter.

The mock 'in memoriam' segment paid tribute to casualties like the demolished East Wing, checks and balances, and civil rights.

This wasn't Myers' first rodeo impersonating the tech mogul.

The Austin Powers actor last played Musk back in 2021, delivering a pretty convincing performance that jabbed at Musk's recent controversies, including a moment in which he claimed to be 'the first person with Asperger's to host SNL,' a comment the real Elon Musk later publicly called out.

So it's probably only a matter of time before Myers finds himself back on Musk's radar again.
