Hackers have mocked Elon Musk’s DOGE after infiltrating the website and publishing a message just days after it went live.

Fears have been circulating over the extent of Musk’s access to the confidential information of millions of Americans and it seems like people were right to be worried.

After the billionaire took on the role of head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), he revealed that the team would act as an outside advisor on federal spending, promising to slash trillions from the federal budget.

However, since then Musk has been granted full access to the Treasury payment system, including sensitive information such as social security and Medicare benefits payment.

Now, hackers have found their way into DOGE’s website, with at least two pages on the site being altered.

Two messages that appeared on two separate pages read ‘this is a joke of a .gov site’ and ‘THESE ‘EXPERTS’ LEFT THEIR DATABASE OPEN -roro’.

According to 404 Media, DOGE doesn’t appear to be hosted by government servers and instead was pulling data from a different server than can be infiltrated by third parties.

The website is unlike any other site of the US government as its homepage appears to mirror the DOGE X (Twitter) account.

On one page, there is a ‘wall of receipts’, which appears to show how much the organization has saved in government savings by cutting funding to places like USAID, an agency that was set up by John F. Kennedy to assist with foreign aid and international development.

DOGE has been in the spotlight in recent weeks as Musk appears to have taken center stage in the Trump administration.

After being put to task after the inauguration on January 20, the government has seen mass layoffs and major cuts to DEI initiatives.

Many people took to social media to react to the recent hacking of the DOGE website.

On X, one user wrote: “DOGE website got hacked days after going live. Sounds real efficient to me!”

Another said: “Within two days, Doge.gov was hacked and their database was accessible.

“Not a good look to kick things off, and it’s even worse considering they silently fixed it and gave no explanation behind what occurred, and what was accessed.”

And a third person added: “The DOGE website has reportedly been hacked. And it’s not a complex hack.

“They left the database behind their site open for anyone to edit. I’ve been a web developer for about 25 years. This is an extremely rookie mistake…”
