Prices are going up for mobile networks and broadband providers all around.

Earlier this year, UK broadband customers of Sky, BT, and Now TV saw their monthly bills rise by nearly 15%.

Luckily, there's a way to slash your monthly broadband bills and get faster internet speeds in the process.

According to money expert, Tyler Bevan, the solution is down to 5G. This wireless technology that's integrated into most smartphones nowadays, could be the answer for households looking to improve their internet connection.

Switching to 5G broadband can benefit those who live in areas with slower internet speeds. Rather than relying on a fixed connection, customers can access the internet via a mobile signal much like they can on their smartphones when they're away from home.

Bevan, the co-founder of broadbandsavvy.com, shared: '87% of UK households currently use a fixed broadband connection to get online at home.

With fixed-line broadband, your internet connection is delivered to your router via copper or fibre-optic cabling in your street.

'However, with recent advances in wireless internet technology, it's now possible to get online with 5G, instead of having a fixed-line connection.'

Broadbandsavvy suggests that switching to wireless 5G broadband can save household bill payers between 20-30% while also providing faster speeds.

According to Bevan: 'After the recent price rises, you'll typically pay about £25-£30 per month for a superfast broadband plan, with a download speed of about 50-100 megabits per second (Mbps). On the other hand, with 5G broadband, you'll pay as little as £20 per month with certain providers, and you'll get download speeds of 200-300 Mbps, and sometimes even higher.

'This means you'll experience less buffering when watching HD or 4K video, and game updates on the Xbox or PlayStation will download much faster.'

To increase your internet speeds, simply insert the 5G SIM card into the Wi-Fi router, then plug it in and turn it on.

'The router will take a few minutes to set itself up, and once it's done, you'll be able to connect to its Wi-Fi hotspot and begin using the internet.'

Major providers like Vodafone, Three, EE and O2 all offer deals on 5G broadband packages, so make sure to browse and find the best one for you.
