Couple accidentally tears off ‘screen' of new smart TV whilst filming unboxing

The TikToker regrettably mistook a protective plastic covering for the actual TV screen.

One disappointed buyer made the devastating blunder by confusing the protective frame, found on most electronic devices, with the actual TV screen.

The TikToker, by the username of @kumalashstudio, shared her error with her audience when she and her husband treated themselves to a 'brand new Samsung TV' after recently moving to Spain.

Kelsey, the TikTok creator, started off her video with: 'All right guys watch me rip off the screen to my brand new Samsung TV.'

Explaining that she 'delayed posting the video for obvious reasons,' Kelsey said that when she bought the TV, she assumed it would be like other screens with 'protective plastic on it that you need to take off'.

She also admitted that there were no instructions or 'Do Not Remove' stickers to make her think otherwise.

'Well, we thought it was the protective plastic because it really looked like that,' she continued.

'So we started peeling it off and we did not realise that it was the actual screen we were peeling off,' she explained before the clip transitioned to painful footage of her husband ripping off part of the TV that's evidently not supposed to be removed.

Kelsey soon noticed the mistake, but figured since her husband was already 'halfway' through pulling the screen off, it was 'already ruined' and the damage was done.

The video shows the eye-searing footage as the screen is pulled off as well as the extent of damage caused to the device.

Fortunately for her, she contacted Samsung for support who were 'cool' and offered to replace it.

People on TikTok shared their thoughts on the unfortunate mishap.

One user sided with the content creator saying: 'design flaw. the screen should be underneath the frame so the edges aren't exposed, making them peelable.'

Others questioned why the screen was 'peelable' and so 'easy to rip off.'

Some users explained that the peeled-off layer is the polarising filter that controls the amount of light in order to display the image properly, 'preventing it from looking like a white screen.'

One viewer wondered how the creator managed to do it, responding with 'girl.. what how did you not realise'.

Safe to say, some of the TikTok audience found humour in the situation, suggesting that the couple use the filter to create 'sunglasses' or 'private viewing glasses' for the TV.

Kelsey isn't the only person to have made this costly mistake either, as other videos across social media are showcasing similar clips of accidental screen peeling.
