We saw the introduction of 3D movies in theatres first in 1922, with the movie The Power of Love. And then the first 4D movie in 1984: The Sensorium.

In the gaming sector, companies have been dabbling into VR technology for a more captivating experience. It's not enough to sit on the couch or at the cinema to watch entertainment through a screen.

People want more!

However, it still seems in the early days to make our media all the more entertaining and immersive, though one cinema has hit the mark.

The Instagram clip shows the cinema roof and walls engulfed in very realistic-looking flames, surrounding the audience. Seriously, the room looked to be on fire.

However, the audience seems pretty unaware, or at least unphased by the special effects, as there's no one screaming or frantically running for their lives out of the cinema door.

According to reports, the cinema is somewhere in China and these seem to be one of the first audiences to be exposed to such an immersive viewing.

Safe to say, viewers in the online Reddit and Instagram community have been completely shocked at the sight of the cinema effects.

One person commented: 'When I saw this I thought of the scene in inglorious bastards it looks awesome though'.

Other people have been questioning the point of the crazy added effects, saying: 'What is the benefit ? That people will not escape in a real fire ?'

Some respondents have been joking at the scene, writing: 'It also includes a fireman coming in and shouting “no seriously, this isn’t part of the show! It’s a real fire!” Everyone will laugh at you if you believe him though.'

In the UK, a couple of months ago, one of the first 5D cinemas was introduced in Poole, whereby the co-owner of Flip Out, Richard Beese, said: 'We have been overwhelmed by the welcome we have received in Poole; it's been fantastic to see how popular Flip Out has been, and we just know how much our fans in Poole are going to love the new 5D cinema.

'It is so much fun and really exciting. The special effects and moving platforms really make you feel like you are part of the movie.'
