People have been left in shock after it was revealed just how much money AI videos are making.
Yep, it turns out that the brainrot clips you probably skip through on social media are actually lucrative business ventures.
This comes after one Reddit user took to the platform to shed some light on how much money these types of AI-generated videos make.
Content coined as being AI slop tends to refer to low quality videos and images that are flooding the internet and created to grab the attention of the viewer.
Advert
This is usually in order to generate revenue from advertisements and tends to have little to no human input.
The clips often make very little sense or could present fake news to its audience in a clickbaity style.
In a Reddit post, the user wrote: “So you can earn $4,250,000 USD a year by letting AI spam YouTube garbage at new users? I went down a rabbit hole today and apparently a huge chunk of YouTube’s recommendations (especially for new accounts) is just AI-generated junk now. Like, low-effort voiceovers, weird visuals, recycled scripts, the whole thing.
“What surprised me is the money. Some of these channels are reportedly pulling in millions per year doing this. Not “smart automation” or “cool AI experiments” - just mass-produced content designed to game the algorithm. And YouTube keeps pushing it because… engagement.”
This prompted others to react to the news, with many taking to the Reddit comment section to share their own thoughts on the matter.
One person said: “I thought all recommendations everywhere were made by some kind of AI.”
Another wrote: “Not much longer before the dead internet theory becomes a fact …”

A third person commented: “Those old people that cant recognize whats AI and whats real must be living on a parallel world already.”
And a fourth added: “It's hard to avoid it completely, but the most effective measure you can take is to not watch any shorts.”
In other AI news, Geoffrey Hinton, who is a leading computer scientist and cognitive psychologist best known for pioneering artificial intelligence, made an appearance on the Diary of a CEO podcast hosted by Steven Bartlett, where he revealed that he believes there is a 20% chance that the rise in AI could lead to human extinction.
The expert also shared some of his deep regret for having helped to create the technology, highlighting his beliefs that it poses a threat to humanity.
