A controversial new app has now hit over a million downloads in less than five days, dwarfing the likes of ChatGPT.
It turns out that there is a new AI app on the horizon and it looks set to become even more popular than giants such as ChatGPT.
Sora has hit the one million downloads milestone much faster than the OpenAI chatbot did, and has officially topped the charts of Apple’s App Store.
The app allows users to create ten second clips from simple text prompts and they look pretty realistic.

Recently, Sora has gone viral after people started making videos depicting Jake Paul in various scenarios including several where he is a beauty influencer.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer has taken the AI videos in good spirits, even poking fun at them by making his own makeup clips in response.
Bill Peebles, who is the head of Sora, took to X, formerly Twitter, to share news about the new OpenAI app, saying: “sora hit 1M app downloads in <5 days, even faster than chatgpt did (despite the invite flow and only targeting north america!)!

“Team working hard to keep up with surging growth. more features and fixes to overmoderation on the way!”
On the Sora website, it says: “Start with a prompt or upload an image to create videos with unprecedented realism in any style: cinematic, animated, photorealistic, or surreal.
“Create together. With cameos, you and your friends can be characters in your videos. You control how or when your cameo is used.
“Take someone else’s creation and put your spin on it. Swap characters, change the vibe, add new scenes, or extend the story.

“Music, sound effects, and dialogue are automatically included in videos to make every scene complete.”

However, it appears that not everyone is a fan of the boom in AI technology as the daughter of Robin Williams issued a desperate plea to fans after receiving numerous ‘disgusting’ AI videos of her late father.
Zelda Williams was 25 years old when her dad, iconic comedian and actor Williams, passed away in 2014.

Now, Zelda has taken to Instagram to ask people not to make videos of her dad using AI.
She wrote: “Please, just stop sending me AI videos of Dad. Stop believing I wanna see it or that I’ll understand, I don’t and I won’t. If you’re just trying to troll me, I’ve seen way worse, I’ll restrict and move on.”
