Every so often gamers will get the chance to download a new experience for no extra cost, and Steam has thankfully just added eight new free games to its stores for you to claim right now.
While there has been a dramatic increase in the number of great free-to-play games available over the past decade – with titles like Fortnite, Warzone, and Valorant leading the charge – you still shouldn't ever turn your nose up at the opportunity to download a game without paying.
Modern gamers are blessed with these 'free' deals thanks to the popularity of subscription services like PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass, and you even get that on PC every week with the limited-time free games available on the Epic Games Store.
However, it's not every day of the week that a game becomes free on Steam, so when that opportunity arises you should snatch it and fill out your library with more titles that you'll get to at some point in the future.

There's just about something for everybody here no matter what type of games you enjoy playing, and there's literally no downside to picking them up outside of adding another eight titles to your ever-growing backlog.

If you're a fan of arty games and titles that feel more like 'experiences' then you should definitely give Loutra: Inaugural Group Show a try, as this "loitering simulator and dreamcore powerhouse" looks like very few games you can play right now.

Additionally, while we're past the point of Halloween in the year now, Separated by Nightmares is still an ideal choice for any horror fans out there, as this first-person puzzler will provide those scares that you're craving.
Another great pick up is definitely Myrkwood: Offshoot, as it's designed to be played multiplayer and there's no easier way to convince your friends to hop on than the game being free.

You might also want to give Palmier Island a go if you've got a penchant for the ever-popular cozy game genre, as you'll find yourself the only person on an island who speaks English where everyone else speaks French. Not only will this help you relax in the evenings after work, but you might even come out of it all with a new language under your belt!
