It's impossible to decide what the 'best' game of all time is, with the likes of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Grand Theft Auto IV, Super Mario World, and the OG Resident Evil 4 often moving in the same circles. Many would also add both Red Dead Redemption games into the mix, and whether you're new to the franchise or a sharp-shooting veteran of the Old West, they’re a pair of certified bangers.
Let's also spare a thought for Rockstar San Diego's Red Dead Revolver from 2004, which is unfairly a black sheep of the family.
In case you've been hiding under a gaming rock, you'll know we recently celebrated Gamescom 2026, with huge announcements including an Exodus release date, an Elden Ring-inspired Nodusfall, and (finally) a new Turok. To kick off celebrations, Sony has also launched its Gamescom sale, with over 1,000 titles giving you up to 75% off.
We might be in the midst of a PlayStation boycott, as some keep their consoles offline due to the confirmation that Sony is axing physical discs in January 2028, but for others, it's business as usual.

If you've got a gift card lying around that’s waiting to be spent, or you're simply in the market for some new games to play, check out the Gamescom sale on the PlayStation Store. 2018's Red Dead Redemption 2 is currently on sale with 75% off, meaning you can grab the award-winning outing for just $14.99.
Confusingly serving as a prequel to 2010's Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead Redemption II follows the grizzled Arthur Morgan as he navigates the politics of the Van der Linde gang and a declining Wild West at the turn of the next century.
Offering, blood, bullets, and blubbering, strap in for a ride that's just as tragic as it is exhilarating. You can obviously expect some familiar faces from Red Dead Redemption to pop up here, although we won't spoil any of the twists and turns.
Whether you've never played before or just want to dive back into what's rightly called one of the best games of all time, Red Dead Redemption II is on offer until the Gamescom sale ends on September 9.
The other best deals from Sony's Gamescom sale

Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg. 007 First Light has already had 20% shaved off the price of admission, which isn't too shabby considering it's already been dubbed one of 2026's best games and only came out in May.
The current best sellers include EA Sports UFC 6 with 20% off, Battlefield 6 with 50% off, and Crimson Desert Enhanced with 20% off. Still, that doesn't mean they're the 'best' on the list.
Sticking with Rockstar Games, you've got plenty of time ahead of GTA VI's release to play Grand Theft Auto V and Great White Shark Card Bundle. This gives you the main game, access to GTA Online, and a cool $1.5 million to spend in the online multiplayer.
Although there's since been a full remaster, the 2014 The Last of Us Remastered is a steal at just $9.99 as part of the Gamescom sale, 2018's God of War is $9.99, and the Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition will give you the lauded 2019 remake and its DLC for $9.99.
Last but not least, why not try the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Digital Deluxe Version with 70% off and marked down to $20.99?
No matter what you think of Sony right now, you've got to admit there are some pretty beefy deals to be found.
