Nintendo is coming out of the gate hot, and while the original Nintendo Switch being the best-selling console of 2018-2022 means the House that Mario Built probably didn't need much help selling the Switch 2, a major rumor could give you another reason to stump up for the console.
We've waited for years for confirmation about what Nintendo was working on next, and following a January 2025 reveal, gamers were told there wasn't long to wait until the Switch 2 would be in our hands.
There have been some grumbles about having to pay $80 for Mario Kart World, and while a new $80 price point seems to be the norm for Switch 2 titles, we wouldn't mind paying that for one of the best video games of all time.

Even as the eyes of the world are on what Rockstar Games will be pumping out next in terms of GTA 6, let's remember this isn't the only franchise the developer is known for.

Alongside Manhunt and Bully, Rockstar has made a name for itself with the Red Dead Redemption games. As we sit around and wait for the mythical Red Dead Redemption 3, a rerelease of 2018's Red Dead Redemption 2 could persuade the team to make things happen a little quicker. Boasting a whopping 97/100 score on Metacritic and tying with GTA V and GTA III, it's universally held as one of the best games of all time.
It took 13 years to get Red Dead Redemption on the OG Switch, and with its sequel likely to melt that particular console, we've been biding our time to see whether the Switch 2 can handle it. After all, if it can manage Elden Ring, RDR2 should be a breeze.

Speaking on his Xbox Showcase Predictions video, leaker Nate the Hate suggested the cowboy caper would get a new-gen upgrade and a Switch 2 port at some point in 2025. This comes after others recently started the rumor mill turning that Arthur Morgan's adventure would be galloping onto Nintendo's latest generation of hardware.
In terms of Nate the Hate's track record, he previously suggested the Switch 2 reveal would be in January (correct) and that more Xbox games would be finding a home on PS5 (also correct).

The noted leaker definitely has the track record, although we should probably temper our expectations.
If we're going to take Nate the Hate's word with any credibility, he says that he's heard about Red Dead Redemption 2's Switch 2 port coming 'a few months' after the console's launch. This homes in on a late summer or early fall window.
Red Dead Redemption 2 runs perfectly fine on the PS5 and Xbox Series, although it's locked into its last-gen capabilities with 30 FPS and checkerboarded 4K resolution. Gamers have been begging for some kind of update considering it's now showing its seven-year age, so what better time than the release of a new console?
All of this comes after Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick praised the Switch 2 and told investors: "Historically being a third-party in the Nintendo business has been a bit challenging. I think Nintendo's been very forthcoming in addressing that, and we're stepping up too because we have great optimism for the platform."

Take-Two games like Borderlands 4 are already confirmed for the Switch 2, so hopefully, it won't be long until Arthur is riding off into the sunset on Nintendo's new toy.
