Logan Paul just smashed several records at a recent auction, as not only did his headline sale become the biggest of its kind in the Pokémon world, but it was also the largest of any trading card in history, earning his millions of dollars as a result.
The Paul brothers have never been the shy kind when it comes to flaunting their wealth, and for Logan that's recently been shown in his connection with an incredibly rare – and valuable – Pokémon card.
While you might wonder how the pieces of cardboard that you exchanged on the playground are considered so expensive, the hobby has transformed into a collector's dream, with countless cards going for ridiculous sums if they're in the right condition.
Few are quite as desirable as one held by the former YouTuber though, and that was recently proven though an auction where the card was sold, breaking several records in the process.

If you've been following Paul's recent career you might have noticed the Illustrator Pikachu card that he often kept by his side, protected in a diamond case that was somehow worth less than the contents inside.
He even wore it around his neck during his in-ring WWE debut at Wrestlemania 38 three years ago, and he would have likely done the same when taking to the football field in Saudi Arabia this year had he not just sold it.

He purchased the rare card for an estimated $5.275 million back in 2021, yet the recent auction broadcast on YouTube saw the 'holy grail' go for $16,492,000 in total, breaking the record for both the most expensive Pokémon card and the most expensive trading card ever sold at an auction.
The reason why this card in particular is so valuable comes from both its rarity and its condition — the two most important aspects for any collector.
Not only did the card receive a PSA 10 grade from Professional Sports Authenticator, noting it to be "essentially a perfect card," but there are also only 39 copies to ever exist, having been awarded to winners of an illustration contest at CoroCoro Comic in Japan back in 1998.
Paul's PSA 10 card is the only one of these to receive such a grading, making it effectively one of one and therefore an incredibly desirable prospect for all Pokémon fans across the world.
AJ Scaramucci, son of former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci, was the one to purchase the card in the end despite Paul receiving a $10 million private bid prior to the auction.
He seems to view it as a worthwhile investment too, as he's currently operating a project called 'Treasure Trove' where he seeks to 'collect the uncollectible'. He hopes to soon add the Declaration of Independence and a T-Rex fossil to this collection, showing the kind of value that the Pokémon card now posseses.
