Fans immediately perked up when a major industry insider gave a new update on Grand Theft Auto 6's development, yet that excitement quickly turned to frustration when they were informed about the current state of development.
It's safe to say that GTA 6 is probably the most anticipated game ever at this point, as fans of the series have had to wait 13 long years for a follow up to the previous entry and it's certainly not gone quickly.
What's made it worse is the several delays that developer Rockstar Games has already had to regrettably announce, as while the release window was initially set for Fall 2025, it first got pushed back to May this year and then again to November 19.
Rightfully some remain skeptical that it will be capable of hitting this release date, especially considering how significant it appears to be in scale, and a worrying new update from a major industry expert has only added to those fears.

As shared on The Ringer's Button Mash podcast, Bloomberg reporter and industry insider Jason Schreier revealed a number of worrying behind the scenes details for GTA 6 that indicate it might not quite be as far along in development as some fans expected.
Schreier reveals that the last he heard, GTA 6 was not content complete, indicating that there's still things that the developers are working on to flesh out the game as opposed to working on the final touches like optimization and bug fixes.
For example, missions are still being finalized and it's still undecided what will actually make it into the final game, and a big part of this is the perfectionist attitude that Rockstar takes as a developer.
While he claims that it's hard to say whether the game will actually release in November as is currently planned, it feels more concrete than the previous two dates, but Rockstar would rather delay again than release in a compromised state as the future of both the developer and publisher Take Two rightfully lives and dies on this title.
Some fans have taken the news with a glass-half-full attitude, with one user on X stating: "I say let them cook, what's a few more months after waiting for a decade?"
That's certainly one perspective to take as people have already been waiting such a long time and it would be a waste if it was rushed and disappointing. Another notes that "we rather a good game than an incomplete buggy one. Take your time Rockstar even though we meme you guys all the time."
Others weren't quite as forgiving though, with a third comment arguing: "This is just stupid and inexplicable, a decade to finish one game... That's just slacking, don't try and tell me it's something else."
One even declared that "people really think this game is going to live up to their expectations after all of these years," but what else can fans do but continue to wait — although don't be surprised if the next update we hear from Rockstar itself is another disappointing one.
