Rockstar reveals GTA 6 music collection, and the album is more expensive than the game
Rockstar is really making the most of the hype ahead of GTA 6's launch, with the developer not only collaborating with a number of the world's biggest artists for the game's soundtrack but also releasing an album to coincide with this.
Aptly named 'Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album', this collection of music doesn't include every single song you'll hear on the radio in GTA 6, but 34 original tracks that have been made exclusively for the game in order to 'capture the electric energy' of Vice City and Leonida.
While you can pick this up on CD for only $19.98 and get all the tracks in a physical version at release, there is also the option to purchase a more expensive blue splatter vinyl for $49.98, or even a limited-edition copy that's more expensive than the Ultimate Edition of the game.
GTA 6 album costs more than the game itself
Heading onto the official website for the album, you'll be able to see a limited-edition version of the album on vinyl, ditching the aforementioned blue splatter variant for a transparent vinyl that's filled with blue liquid.
Picking it up will set you back an eye-watering fee of $124.98 – 25% more than GTA 6's Ultimate Edition, which anyone buying this will likely have already forked out the money for anyway – leaving a sour taste in the mouth of some.

While this will definitely be appealing to some, as seeing the liquid flow through the record when you're playing it can be an appealing novelty — but it looks to be the only difference between the regular vinyl, and perhaps not enough to justify the hefty price tag.
That's clearly not a deterrent though as this limited-edition version sold out under an hour after it launched, and there are already listings in the thousands of dollars on eBay from the 'lucky' scalpers who managed to secure a copy before it became unavailable.
Fans slam Rockstar amid physical disc controversy
It's easy to forget amid the ongoing PlayStation backlash that Rockstar has already enacted a digital-only future with the release of GTA 6, and this promotional release has only served as a reminder of that for many fans.
One fan in the replies to Rockstar's announcement highlighted "the irony to release this on disc but not the game itself," and they are far from the only one to express their frustration in this manner.
"At this point, this feels like a humiliation ritual for your own fan base. Just spitting in our faces. Wow," another declared, likely venting about the amount of money fans are asked to spend before the game has even released too.
What songs are on the GTA 6 album?
According to the official listing it features tracks from artists like PinkPantheress, Travis Scott, Morgan Wallen, and Yung Lean, with many of these confirming their participation as part of a wider social media campaign over the past few days.

The complete album features 34 original tracks in total, but there are expected to be hundreds across the numerous radio stations in-game. We've already got a glimpse of a few through the recent leaks from CyberLeek, but it's unclear whether these will stay in the game or were placeholders for a development build.
