GTA Online players are being told to brace themselves for some pretty major news as the GTA 6 release announcement looms.
The latest instalment of Grand Theft Auto is set to be released later this year.
There has been much anticipation among gamers after the fifth version of the game was launched all the way back in 2013.
Fans rejoiced at the news in late 2023 when it was announced that the game was scheduled to be released in the autumn of 2025.

However, both Rockstar Games and its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, have been pretty quiet about the upcoming game.
Not much is known about when exactly GTA 6 is due to be dropped, although Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick did share that marketing for the game will begin ‘relatively close’ to its release window.
And while we know that GTA 6 will be available to play on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, it’s not yet known which other platforms, if any, it will be arriving to.
Now, it seems like a new report is in the works, according to Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson.
Speaking on the Insider Gaming Weekly podcast, he said: “Speaking of stories and GTA 6, I do have, like, a well-researched story coming out in the next couple of weeks about GTA 6 and the online component.”
It’s not yet clear exactly what revelations will be made but it looks like online gamers will be bracing themselves for the announcement.

Where is GTA 6 located?
Heading back to their roots, the game is set in Vice City, which is the original location of the first instalment.
It looks like the place has had a makeover though, after the original was set in 1986, this version appears to be more modern.
Rockstar has described the location setting as ‘the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet’.
Who are the characters?
Fans caught a first glimpse of Lucia in the official trailer, which was released late last year.
Breaking with tradition, Lucia will be the first ever female protagonist in the game’s history.
While not much is known about her yet, she’s shown in the trailer wearing prison clothing, indicating that she’s found herself in trouble with the law.
An unnamed male is also shown in the clip who seems to be set to be a main character.
What is the storyline?
GTA 6 appears set to follow a Bonnie-and-Clyde-type couple who pull off robberies together.
It’s not yet known whether both characters will be playable but given the fact that they both make an appearance in the game’s title card, there’s a very good chance that they could be.
