There were scenes of panic aboard a Delta Airlines flight as federal agents stormed the plane. This wasn't to arrest some unruly passenger who'd had too much to drink, nor was it to tackle a hostage situation. Instead, the team forced their way into the cockpit to arrest the pilot.

Flying can be a scary enough experience for anyone, but when you're on a plane, the pilot typically gets your utmost trust. After all, it's up to them and the crew to keep us safe and hopefully avoid disaster.

2025 has been filled with enough flying horror stories, like the Potomac River crash and the miraculous sole survivor of the Air India Flight. Just days after one Delta pilot was praised for saving passengers from a potential mid-air collision, the airline is in the news for a very different reason.

While no one was injured aboard Delta Flight 2809, passengers were left shaken when federal agents made their way onto the plane shortly after landing. Traveling from Minneapolis, scenes of chaos erupted when the aircraft landed in San Francisco.

The Boeing 757-300 had been delayed due to heavy fog, but after touching down a 9:35 p.m., the routine deplaning quickly descended into confusion when a co-pilot was reportedly dragged off the plane.

Speaking to The San Francisco Chronicle, first class passenger Sarah Christianson explained: "A group of people with badges, guns, and different agency vests/markings were pushing their way up through the aisle to the cockpit."

Christianson says she saw at least 10 law enforcement officers that included agents from Homeland Security Investigations and others who identified as air marshals.

She says the group "stormed the cockpit, cuffed the co-pilot, arrested him, walked him down the aisle, and ushered him off the plane through the cabin doors located between first and coach."

Later, a secondary team returned to collect the pilot's belongings, although passengers claim they weren't informed about what was going on.

The remaining pilot said he "had no idea what just happened," with footage of the arrest shared by the A View From The Wing site.

Christianson referred to the incident as 'shocking and unnerving', while Delta refused to comment to the outlet, and the name of the co-pilot hasn't been released. Inquiries were referred to the Department of Homeland Security.

In a separate interview with ABC San Francisco, Christianson continued: "“It was scary. It was traumatic to watch. As soon as my husband picked me up from baggage claim, I jumped in the car and cried. Because who knows what's happening to that poor person? Why that happened? What did we just see?"

While the reason behind the arrest hasn't been officially revealed, Fox News national correspondent Bill Melugin claims that the co-pilot was arrested on charges related to child sexual abuse material. It's important to note this hasn't been verified by other sources.

This isn't the only scandal Delta has recently faced, with one pilot being detained in Amsterdam just days ago. Although the result is apparently being contested, the pilot allegedly failed a breathalyzer test.
