Drivers have been warned not to touch a ‘do not press’ button in the car that has left people baffled.

Figuring out what all of the buttons do when you buy a new car can be a little daunting.

Sometimes you just have to press them all to find out but one man took to social media when he couldn’t work out what one particular function of his new vehicle was.

The unnamed man was baffled after buying a new Peugeot and shared his confusion on Reddit.

For context, the icon he was confused about showed a car with WiFi-looking signals in the middle of it and the word ‘off’ written below.

In a post, the man wrote: “Just bought a new car. What does this button do? I could not find anything on the internet.”

Others users took to the comment section to share their opinions and some were more helpful than others.

One user joked: “Makes the car into a Wi-Fi router.”

While another said: “Microwaves all the occupants in an emergency.”

A third person wrote: “Internal thermonuclear device. It explodes everything inside the cabin. But it is safe for those outside.”

A fourth commented: “Automatic pizza cutter.”

And a fifth user simply added: “Ejector seat.”

But it seems like he wasn’t the only one baffled by the mystery button.

Another driver wrote in a forum: “I just got myself a 2014 Peugeot 308 and have found a button on the dash and I have no idea as to what it does?

“It’s to the right of the steering wheel. To me it looks maybe like some kind of radar detection maybe, so mobile speed camera or something. Can anyone shed some light on what it does as I was hoping if I pressed it, it would come up on the centre console screen what it does but nothing happens.”

Luckily, one person had the answer, responding with: “I think you press that to turn off the volumetric alarm when locking the car so that if for example you have left a dog in the car it won't set the alarm off.

“You press it just before getting out and locking the car.”

How do you use the mystery feature?

One user explained: “It’s the ultrasonic alarm sensor disable button. 1) Switch the ignition OFF. 2) Press and hold the button in, the LED will come on and stay on. 3) Deadlock the car as normal – the interior ultrasonic alarm sensors are deactivated and the LED will revert to its normal flashing mode for the alarm system.”
