Elon Musk has issued a two-word response to losing $113 billion since teaming up with President Donald Trump.

The former ‘First Buddy’ of the president recently left his post as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) before becoming embroiled in a public spat with Trump.

After forging a close friendship in 2024, in which Musk donated a whopping $288 to Trump’s election campaign, the pair fell out last week after Musk criticized the president’s new budget bill.

Describing the plans as a ‘disgusting abomination’, the Tesla boss took to his own social media platform X, formerly Twitter, to write: “@realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public.

“Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.”

The post by Musk has since been deleted.

Musk also warned that Trump’s tariffs will ‘cause a recession in the second half of this year’.

In a post on his own social media platform, Truth Social, Trump threatened to cancel Musk’s contracts with the government.

Then, in an interview with NBC News, the president said that Musk has been ‘disrespectful’.

He added: “I think it’s a very bad thing, because he's very disrespectful. You could not disrespect the office of the president.”

Now, Musk has responded to claims that he lost over a hundred billion dollars during his time in government.

On X, one user wrote: “Elon Musk lost 25% of his fortune, approximately $113 billion, while leading efforts to streamline the U.S. government.

Are you willing to give Elon Musk a heartfelt ‘thank you’? A. Hell yes. B. No.”

Musk himself replied to the tweet with a simple two-word statement, writing: “Worth it.”

It seems that Musk might be ready to wave the white flag in his disagreement with Trump after he took to X earlier today (June 11) to admit that he ‘regrets’ some of what he has said.

In a post, he wrote: “I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far.”

Talking about the spat, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said: “This is an unfortunate episode from Elon, who is unhappy with the One Big Beautiful Bill [a Republican tax and spending bill] because it does not include the policies he wanted.

“The president is focused on passing this historic piece of legislation and making our country great again.”
