Sometimes the best updates are those that don't change a whole lot but remove frustrations from your life, and PlayStation might just have supplied gamers with just that after adding a long-awaited feature to its controllers.
Playing all of the biggest games at the highest resolutions is all good and well, but something as simple as issues with your controller can ruin the whole experience.
We've all seen quite how frustrating stick drift can be across Sony's DualSense and Nintendo's Joycon controllers, but there is a controller-based issue that, while perhaps not quite as debilitating to your time playing games, still has left many gamers desperate for change over the past couple of years.

If your PlayStation 5 is the only console you game on then you likely won't have even encountered this as a problem, but it's been a major issue for those that like to maintain the familiarity of their DualSense controller on PC or like taking advantage of Remote Play.
Previously, using your DualSense on another device would mean that it would need to be paired back on your PS5 every single time, leading to endless frustration for gamers who like to be flexible with where they play.
Granted, it only takes a couple of seconds, but having to do that every time you boot up the console does understandably grow tiresome.

Thankfully, as reported by GAMINGbible, Sony has now announced that DualSense controllers will now be able to be paired to more than one device, ending the annoyance that so many have had to experience since the PS5's launch.
Revealing the news in a post on X, the official PlayStation account explained: "Want to pair your DualSense controller to multiple devices at once? An update planned for later this year enhances pairing functionality. Stay tuned for more updates."
It's unclear when this update will arrive, or quite how many devices you'll be able to simultaneously pair your controller too, but it's good news regardless for those who have been endlessly banging on Sony's door for this change to be made.

The fan reaction to this news has been overwhelmingly positive, with X users branding the update "actually massive" amongst countless expressions of thanks.
One commenter on the r/PS5 subreddit argues that this "massively improves Remote Play experience," illustrating that "now I'll actually use it with the DualSense since I don't have to pair controllers each time."

A big reason why many would want to continue using the DualSense outside of familiarity too is the unique features like haptic triggers and feedback that provide an extra level of immersion to games that integrate them.
Almost all of Sony's first party PC ports give players the option to use these features when playing with a DualSense controller, for example, and with this update you'll be able to take advantage of that without having to faff about with repairing when hopping back on your PS5.
