A beloved TikTok star known online as Epic Gamer Grandma has died at the age of 78.
The family of the TikToker, whose real name was Agnes, have confirmed that she passed away peacefully on Sunday (December 21).
In a statement posted on social media, the family said she died ‘holding the hand of her daughter, Pauline’, adding that she ‘left this world the way she lived in it: surrounded by love’.
The statement went on to say: “We watched the strongest woman we know slowly lose her words, and now that she’s gone, we are drowning in all the things we never got the chance to say back.”

It continued: “For most of her life, Agnes was not ‘an influencer,’ she was a daughter, a sister, a mum, a grandma, a neighbour, a friend… She was home.
“Somehow, in the middle of all that, she became something none of us expected: Scotland’s biggest elderly creator. To us, she was still just Nana.”
Many people have taken to Instagram to share their condolences to the family, with one user writing: “Rest in peace, even though she’s gone, she will live forever in our hearts like a true legend.”
Another said: “2025 is claiming all that it can. So sorry for your loss.”
A third person commented: “My heart goes out to your entire family. Your nana brought me so much joy, I haven’t had my grandparents since I was 16. I love to see older folks with such humor and spirit, she was such a joy and delight.”
And a fourth added: “Rest in peace memaw hope you respawn soon.”
Remarking on the legacy that Agnes has left behind, the family said: “Every older person who saw her and realised it’s not ‘too late’ to try something new.

“Every younger person who looked at her and thought, ‘age really is just a number’.
“Every family who watched her together and found a little bit of light on a dark day.
“Every person who felt less alone because she was honest about being scared, ill or tired, but still finding reasons to smile.”
The tribute to Agnes concluded with: “Thank you for giving her a second family online. Thank you for making her feel seen, valued and celebrated in a world that often forgets people her age. She mattered to us, to you, and to so many more than she ever realised. Epic wasn’t just a nickname; it was a title.”
