An 11-year-old boy accused of shooting his father had made his first court appearance, with Clayton Dietz apparently falling out with his dad after the latter took away his Nintendo Switch console.

With concerns about how much time children are spending on their screens and the rise of so-called gaming rage, these concerns are only growing as experts speak out.

Scenes of people rage-quitting aren't uncommon, with even Elon Musk seen throwing in the towel on Path of Exile. Pro streamers aren't adverse to smashing up keyboards or whole setups, and while some think it's just for clout, gaming rage is a serious issue.

We previously covered the case of an 11-year-old boy accused of killing 42-year-old Douglas Dietz because he took his Nintendo Switch away, with things now moving forward.

According to Fox News, Clayton Dietz is being charged as an adult with criminal homicide, following the Jan 13 shooting of his adoptive father.

Douglas Dietz was found dead at the family's Duncannon home, with a Perry County criminal docket also stating that the young Dietz waived his preliminary hearing on February 19. Being marked as "waived for court," it will now head to the Court of Common Pleas.

The docket confirms that bail was denied on January 13, with Dietz still being confined to Perry County Prison.

Local outlet WHP said that Clayton Dietz arrived at New Bloomfield's Perry County Courthouse ahead of his 1:30 p.m. preliminary hearing, handcuffed and surrounded by probation officers.

WHP said that family members declined to comment, although defense attorney Dave Wilson said Dietz's team will seek to transfer the case to juvenile court: "My goal is going to be to try to get him into juvenile court."

Court records state that officers were called to the Dietz's residence at around three in the morning, where Douglas Dietz was found with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

Jillian Dietz is the late Douglas’ wife and the mother of Clayton, telling investigators that the pair had gone to bed shortly after singing "Happy Birthday" to Clayton. This was around midnight, but some time later, a loud noise woke her up.

Jillian turned to Douglas and tried to wake him, only to find blood on the bed. WHP says that Clayton entered the room, and Jillian yelled words along the lines of "Daddy’s dead." With Clayton running down the stairs and supposedly shouting, "My dad’s dead," a state trooper then reported him saying, "I killed Daddy," when speaking to him in the kitchen.

It's alleged that Clayton was looking for his confiscated console when he found keys to the gun safe. Investigators claim that Clayton might've been looking for his Switch in the gun safe, but instead, removed a revolver.

During questioning, it's said that Clayton admitted he'd become upset after being told to go to bed, and when asked what he thought would happen when he fired the gun, the young boy said he was angry and hadn't thought of the consequences.

WHP cites court records where Clayton maintained that "he had someone in mind who he was going to shoot," loading the revolver and shooting his adoptive father as he slept.

Authorities noted that the young boy had a "large contusion" above his left eye, as well as a "small laceration" on his lower lip.

While Clayton Dietz remains charged as an adult with criminal homicide, further proceedings are expected as his counsel seeks a move to juvenile court.
